The Tennessee auto insurance requirements stipulated by law are:

* $25,000 for bodily injury to or death of one (1) person per accident; $50,000 for bodily injury to or death of two (2) or more persons per accident, subject to the $25,000 per person limit

* $10,000 for property damage per accident.

Drivers are required to provide documentary proof of Financial Responsibility when registering a vehicle and at the request of a law enforcement officer at the time of an accident or traffic stop.

Please note that these are minimums required by Tennessee state law, not suggested coverage amounts. The simple fact is, each state’s minimum requirements are typically inadequate to sufficiently cover your costs should you be involved in a major accident. The shortfall will have to be made up out of your own pocket. Obviously, having to pay this difference could easily destroy one financially.
