Florida Auto Insurance Requirements
In order to purchase and maintain a Florida license plate and vehicle registration, the Florida auto insurance requirements required by law are:
$10,000 personal injury protection (PIP)
$10,000 property damage liability (PDL)
This is for as long as you have a valid Florida license plate.
Please note that these are minimums required by Florida state law, not suggested coverage amounts. The simple fact is, each state’s minimum requirements are typically inadequate to sufficiently cover your costs should you be involved in a major accident. The shortfall will have to be made up out of your own pocket. Obviously, having to pay this difference could easily destroy one’s financial situation should they be sued in such cases.
