61. Premium

The amount that you, the policyholder, must pay to keep your auto insurance policy coverages.

62. Primary Policyholder

The person who acts as the main point of contact with the insurance carrier. Typically, the primary policyholder is also the person billed for the policy.

63. Property Damage Liability Coverage

This coverage protects you in the event you're found responsible for damage to another's property due to a car accident. This coverage aids you in reimbursing someone else for their damaged property (e.g., car, fence, or home). This kind of coverage also helps pay your expenses in a related lawsuit. The amount covered by property damage liability is capped at the limit you select when purchasing your policy.

64. Rental Reimbursement

This optional coverage reimburses the policyholder for the cost of a rental car if required due to a covered loss. Rental Reimbursement may pay part or the full cost of a rental car.

65. Secondary Driver

One of the drivers listed on your policy who is covered for driving an insured vehicle, but not the car's primary driver. A secondary driver is sometimes known as an "occasional driver" in auto insurance lingo.

66. SR-22

An official document that shows proof of financial responsibility. Motor Vehicle Departments ("DMVs") may require an SR-22 or a similar form for drivers found guilty of some traffic violations.

67. Stacking - Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury Coverage

An option available when you purchase uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage. Stacking changes your limits for this kind of coverage. While certain states have their own unique definitions for "stacking", when you select stacking in most states, uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury limits increase by the number of cars being insured. For example: if you purchase $50,000/$100,000 limits for uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage, choose stacking, and insure 2 cars, the stacked limits for this coverage will then equal $100,000/$200,000.

68. Steering Restraint

A durable collar or shield fitted to the upper and lower casing of your car's steering column. This collar makes it more difficult for would-be thieves to gain access to (i.e., "hotwire") your vehicle's ignition system. You might be eligible for discount on your auto insurance if your car has a steering restraint.

69. Supplemental Family Member Liability Coverage

An optional coverage available only in Maryland. SFML protects you should you be found at fault in a car accident resulting in injury or fatality to a family member. The amount covered by SFML is equal to the Bodily Injury limits bought, or if SFML is less than Bodily Injury limits, then SFML coverage is equal to the state minimum requirements of 20/40. If you’re in Maryland and would like to add SFML coverage to your policy, contact your auto insurance company.

70. Supplemental Spousal Liability

An optional coverage available only in New York State. This kind of coverage protects you in the event you're found at fault in an auto accident resulting in injury or death to your spouse. The amount covered by SSL is capped at the limit you select when you purchase your car insurance policy. Should you wish to add SSL coverage to your existing policy, contact your auto insurance agent.
